Full Spectrum Solutions win JAMA Manufacturer of the Year

JAMA Manufacturer of the Year

Mike Nevins, President and CEO of Full Spectrum Solutions/Everlast Lighting and John Basso Jr., President of American Tooling Center/Diversified Tooling Group were honored as JAMA's 2012 Manufacturers of the Year.

Commenting on the success of Full Spectrum Solutions and Everlast Lighting, Rayl noted, "In 1997, Mike Nevins and his wife Diane founded a company here in Jackson that has since grown into the leading U.S. manufacturer of energy-efficient, full spectrum lighting solutions for home and office applications."

As a testament to this growth, in 2010 the company completed construction of a new 70,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art LEED Platinum certified headquarters and manufacturing facility in Jackson. Rayl also praised the company for its "strong commitment to manufacture in Michigan, to do business with local and Michigan-based companies, and to give back, both financially and through volunteer work, to a host of non-profit community organizations."

The Diversified Tooling Group, under the leadership of president John Basso, Jr., has grown from humble beginnings as a 5,000 square foot tool and die shop in Detroit into a business now comprised of four companies in five Michigan locations, including two American Tooling Center facilities in Jackson County, housed in more than 300,000 square feet and employing approximately 350 people.

"Over the past few years, John Basso has led his management team on a journey to diversify from the company's traditional automotive roots," Rayl said. Basso led this initiative, providing technical sales personnel, investing several million dollars in new equipment, and committing resources to train and up-skill the company's employees.

"These investments and commitment have paid off, enabling growth and profitability during years when other traditional Tool & Die shops have struggled and many closed their doors," Rayl said.
