Local Company Planning to Invest in New SmartZone Facility

JACKSON, MITechnique, Inc. is planning for the consolidation of its operations into a new $12 million facility to be built on a 14.3 acre site in the Jackson Technology Park SmartZoneSM. The project is expected to consolidate approximately 50 jobs from all three of the Technique facilities and create an additional 25 new jobs within the next five years. On Friday, October 26, 2012, the Blackman Charter Township Local Development Finance Authority (BLDFA) authorized execution of a Letter of Intent and authorization to negotiate a Purchase Agreement so due diligence can begin.

“Over the past two years, we have worked closely with the City of Jackson and The Enterprise Group to find a facility that will accommodate our growth requirements.  Our preference would have been to expand our existing headquarters in the city; however, State and Federal regulatory issues have prevented that from happening. We have looked at many sites between Jackson and Northern Indiana and the Jackson Technology Park SmartZoneSM is our first choice for consolidated relocation. Our plan is to build a modern 110,000 square foot facility that will position us well for continued growth,” stated Ronnie Johncox, President of Technique, Inc.

“We are excited to keep a leading state-of-the art company in Jackson County,” said Tim Rogers, President and CEO of The Enterprise Group of Jackson, Inc., the county’s economic development agency.
